Maine Outdoor Heritage Fund

These funds are derived from a state lottery and the loon drivers license plate. A small percentage of the funds can be used for acquisition of public lands, parks and wildlife conservation areas. (Most of these funds are reserved for state fish and wildlife management initiatives other than land protection). Each year, about $700,000 are distributed to innovative projects that directly benefit Maine's outdoor heritage.
